CompTIA PenTest+

CompTIA PenTest + is intended for cybersecurity professionals responsible for penetration testing and vulnerability management.

Why is this different?

  • CompTIA PenTest+ is the most comprehensive exam covering all stages of penetration testing. Unlike other penetration testing exams that only cover part of the stages with essay questions and practical work, PenTest + uses both performance-based and knowledge-based questions to ensure that all stages are addressed.

  • PenTest+ is the only exam on the market to include all aspects of vulnerability management. It covers not only the assessment, analysis, and practical analysis of vulnerabilities, but also includes planning, scoping, and managing weaknesses, not just their exploitation.

  • PenTest + is the most recent penetration testing exam covering the latest techniques against expanded attack surfaces. It is a unique exam that requires a candidate to demonstrate the most relevant penetration testing skills for cloud, hybrid environments, web applications, the Internet of Things (IoT), and traditional on-premises environments.

About the exam

PenTest + evaluates the latest penetration tests, as well as the skills needed for vulnerability assessment and management to determine the network's resilience against attacks. The CompTIA PenTest + certification exam will verify that selected candidates possess the knowledge and skills required to:

  • Plan and define the scope of a penetration testing engagement

  • Understand legal and compliance requirements

  • Perform vulnerability assessments and penetration testing using tools and techniques, then analyze the results

  • Produce a written report containing proposed remediation techniques, effectively communicate the results to management, and provide practical recommendations

PenTest+ is compliant with ISO 17024 standards and approved by the U.S. DoD to meet the requirements of directive 8140/8570.01-M. Regulators and the government rely on ANSI accreditation as it instills confidence in the results of an accredited program. More than 2.3 million CompTIA ISO/ANSI accredited exams have been delivered since January 1, 2011.
